POSCO Chemical to Unveil its Next Generation Materials Lineup at InterBattery 2022

POSCO Chemical will unveil its unparalleled battery materials technology at InterBattery 2022 to be held in COEX, Seoul from March 17 to 19.
Under the theme of The New Chapter for Green Tomorrow, the company will present its key battery materials and innovative technology for future mobility vehicles in a 225 square meter space within the hall.
Products to be showcased during the event include single-crystal cathodes, a new battery material known for its strength in enhancing the mileage and safety of EV batteries, and N96, a high nickel product with a higher level of nickel content. A single-crystal cathode is made by combining multiple ingredients including nickel, cobalt, and manganese into a single crystal for higher durability, better thermal stability, and ultimately longer battery life. POSCO Chemical has developed a wide variety of high nickel, single-crystal cathodes to meet the needs and specifications of automakers and battery manufacturers and now is working towards their production.
At the upcoming event, visitors will also see the company's mid-to-long term technology roadmap including cathodes, lithium metal anodes and electrolytes for solid-state batteries. Solid-state batteries are next-generation batteries that use a solid electrolyte instead of liquid one for higher safety and greater energy density. The company will also showcase its portfolio of anode materials, such as natural and artificial graphite, silicon and low-expansion anodes, for more energy storage and faster charging.
In addition, it will share information on what it has achieved in its drive for ESG management and on its efforts to establish a raw material value chain.
To showcase its ESG drive to differentiate itself as a global leading battery materials supplier, a space called ESG Plan Zone will be established at the center of the company's booth to share examples of what it is doing for the environment, including the use of solar panels at the company's cathode and anode plants and the recycling of graphite powder at its anode plants.
Last January, POSCO Chemical became the first battery materials maker to be certified with an environmental product declaration for its anodes. This demonstrates that its entire business from the excavation of anode materials to the production process is pro-environmental.
At the event, the company will also showcase the competitiveness of its raw material value chain, using graphics and videos. Earlier this month, POSCO Chemical signed an agreement with the city of Gwangyang for investment in precursors, while procuring lithium and nickel through POSCO Group, as part of its efforts to establish the value chain. For the elements used in these anodes, POSCO invests in the right to excavate natural graphite while POSCO Chemical invests in spherical graphite, an intermediate material. The latter also produces needle cokes, an ingredient required for artificial graphite.
POSCO Chemical will also take this opportunity to showcase e Autopos, POSCO Group's integrated solution for green cars. e Autopos is the group's comprehensive solution for sustainable mobility vehicles as well as the marketing brand that embraces not only the company's battery materials but also the Group's steel plates for automobiles, drive motors, metallic bipolar plates for hydrogen-fuel cells and steel materials for battery packs.
POSCO Chemical's booth for the event uses a Scenery View display at the front to visualize the dynamic energy of future mobility and the idea of eco-friendliness. Doors will be provided in all directions of the booth for better accessibility, and QR codes will be used to help visitors learn more about what is displayed in the booth.
